The AngloGold Ashanti Schools operate in two campuses, AGA School Koffekrom Campus (main school) and Williams and Brew School, located at OSC-North Mine, both in Obuasi. The school was established in 1961 and now boast of a student population of over 3,500 with a staff strength of over 270. The main school runs Ghana’s National Standards Based Curriculum (NSBC) from Pre-School to Grade 6, and the Common Core Programme (CCP) at the Junior High School. The School’s second campus, Williams and Brew School, is accredited by the University of Cambridge and the British Council to run the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) programmes for Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Secondary and the Cambridge Advance (A’ Level).
The AGA School’s Vision is to be Ghana’s frontrunner in the provision of quality and holistic foundational learning. Just as the name sounds, foundational learning is exactly what it sounds like! It is about the foundations of a child’s education. It refers to basic literacy, numeracy, and transferable skills, that are the building blocks for a life of learning. Just as we would not build a house without solid foundations, we cannot expect a child to thrive in this continuously-evolving world without solid foundational skills.
At the AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) School, our Mission is to cultivate a dynamic learning environment that empowers students to excel academically, develop 21st-century skills, embody exemplary manners, enhance employability, and foster global awareness, whilst at the same time, we remain dedicated to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only adept in their academic pursuits but are also equipped with the essential skills and values needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
Our Core Values are; Safety, Respect, Integrity, Sustainability, Excellence and Collaboration.
The AGA School Team is Committed to:
Academic Excellence: We strive to provide a rigorous and innovative academic curriculum that challenges students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and adapt to new challenges seamlessly.
21st Century Skills: Recognizing the rapidly changing landscape of the 21st century, we are committed to developing in our students the skills necessary for success in the modern world. This includes critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy.
Exemplary Manners: We believe that manners and ethical behaviour are the foundation of strong character. Our students are encouraged to embrace respect, integrity, empathy, and responsibility. By fostering a culture of kindness and understanding, we aim to develop individuals who contribute positively to their communities.
Employability: Beyond academic knowledge, we are dedicated to equipping our students with practical skills that enhance their employability. Our curricula, be it that of WB School or the AGA School, include real-world experiences and opportunities for students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.
Global Awareness: Our students are exposed to diverse perspectives, cultures, and global issues. Through IT lessons, Movie Nights and other carefully-tailored and well crafted academic and co-curricula activities, we aim to broaden our students’ understanding of the world and prepare them to be responsible global citizens.
